Prescription Drug Benefit Management
Prescription drug expenditures represent the fastest growing segment of health care cost in workers’ compensation. The average employee’s and retiree’s drug benefit costs are on the rise, and are expected to continue to grow at an annual rate of 10% to 14% or more for the foreseeable future. Annual Drug expenditure in the US is expected to double from $220 billion per year in 2006 to $440 billion per year in 2016.
Cost drivers for pharmacy include inappropriate or duplicated medications, lack of an overall medication plan, brand name versus generic drugs, high priced prescription distribution methods, and the development of new drugs and high cost therapeutic breakthroughs.
ANS Rehab Consulting helps contain the high cost of prescriptions while working with the physicians to make sure the patient gets the full benefit of the medications needed to treat the injuries.
